Our practice

Liz is the founding speech and language pathologist at Neuro Speech Services. NSS offers a comprehensive range of clinical services encompassing speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing therapy, as well as specialized consulting and education services.

Meet Liz

Liz is a speech and language pathologist uniquely trained to combine research-based treatment methods with a holistic, neurobehavioral approach. This means taking stock of the challenges you face post-injury or illness and combining this with your individual learning style, interests, and motivation to create a treatment plan that helps you regain independence in the areas and activities that matter most to you. Therapy is adapted to meet individual needs and goals, and considers your social, emotional, cognitive, and physical well-being. It may include training for brain health optimization, strategy development, and exercise programs as well as creative solutions to return to pre-injury activities, hobbies, or work. Therapy also often includes family members.

Liz is a passionate patient advocate and cares deeply about accessibility and providing culturally sensitive therapy. She speaks intermediate Spanish and has been trained in behavioral management techniques that affect many following brain injury.

In her free time, Liz holds a position on the board of directors for All Out Adventures, llc.,  a local nonprofit that hosts outdoor recreation activities for veterans, seniors, and people with disabilities and their families. She enjoys spending time in nature with her family, especially while rock climbing, and otherwise can be found in the woodshop, garden, or feeding the chickens.

Working with Liz

  • During our consultation call, Liz will offer information about the treatment process, answer questions about insurance and private pay rates, and ask for a brief overview of your concerns. Taken together, this information will allow us to decide whether speech, care partner training, and/or cognitive rehabilitation is needed, and how to move forward.

  • This is a common question - and the answer varies from person to person. The frequency and length of treatment depends on the level of needs; i.e. more “mild” challenges will require less time and intensity. That said, most folks have an evaluation and are seen 1x/week for 60 minutes, for 8-12 weeks. Those with certain conditions or higher needs may benefit from a more intensive schedule; 2-3x/week, or for a longer period of time; 6-18 months.

  • Yes. There are private pay options for in-home services. Folks with PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) insurance plans may be eligible for reimbursement for services from their insurance company. NSS would provide the necessary paperwork, as well as any guidance needed, and the patient or family member would mail the form in or submit it electronically on their insurance patient portal.

  • Yes - I take traditional Medicare insurance. Coverage for Medicare Advantage plans can be more nuanced and is best discussed over a phone call. Folks with private insurance and a “PPO” (Preferred Provider Organization) plan may be eligible for reimbursement of services. Read more about insurance here.
